Route 38

Route 38 is filled with many trainer battles, making it suitable for gaining experience points.

Here, you'll encounter the wild Pokémon Magnemite.

Though not commonly found, it's crucial to catch one during the story.

Why catch Magnemite on Route 38?

Steel-type Pokémon ha ve a rare ability to resist 11 different types of moves.

In the case of Magnemite, this includes Electric-type moves, making it resistant to a total of 12 types of moves.

Additionally, due to its Steel typing, it's immune to Poison-type moves as well.

Even when evolved into Magneton, it remains sturdy, so it's definitely worth capturing.

Continuing:

Route 39

Here, at MooMoo Farm, you can help take care of Miltank, and in return, you can purchase Moomoo Milk.

While it restores 100 HP, it's limited in use, so it's better to conserve it and rely on items like Soda Pop instead.

Olivine City

Heading south from Route 39 leads to Olivine City.

Here, there's an NPC who will exchange a Krabby for a Voltorb, so be sure to obtain a Krabby and make the exchange.

You can also get a Good Rod and the Hidden Machine "St rength" in a house in Olivine City.

While it might seem like a good opportunity to raise a Gyarados, keep in mind that you can encounter a shiny Gyarados later in the game, so there's no urgent need to focus on it now.

The Bell Tower

On the 6th floor, Gym Leader Jasmine awaits.

She will ask for a fa vor, leading you to Olivine City.

Route 40

From here, head west to Olivine City, your destination. Use "Surf" to tra vel there for now.

Be cautious while surfing in the sea, as you may encounter wild Pokémon.

The sea follows the same mechanics as ca ves on the map.

It's recommended to use Repel here if you ha ve it.

Cianwood City

Here, you can obtain the Hidden Machine "Fly" and the Secret Potion.

The Secret Potion can be obtained from a house in Cianwood City, so after getting it, you may want to head to Cianwood Gym.

Additionally, there's an NPC who will give you a Shuckle as a gift, so it's a good idea to get it just in case.

Cianwood Gym

The Cianwood Gym features trainers who use Fighting-type Pokémon.

In particular, the Gym Leader's ace, Primeape, has a wide range of types that are resistant to it.

It's advisable to use moves like Sand Attack or Mud-Slap to decrease the accuracy of Dynamic Punch as much as possible.

VS. Chuck

Chuck's Pokémon:

★ Primeape Lv. 27
★ Poliwrath Lv. 30

Strategy against Chuck:

Chuck's Fighting-type moves in Gold and Silver ha ve a wide range of weaknesses.

However, their accuracy is very low, making them easy to disrupt with moves like Mud-Slap.

Raising a Gastly to counter Primeape's moves and then gradually reducing Poliwrath's HP with Curse is recommended.

Cianwood City 1

After defeating the Gym Leader, you can receive the HM "Fly" from an NPC near the gym.

Since "Fly" is a highly useful move in the future, make sure to lea ve a slot open in your party and add a Pokémon capable of using "Fly."

Olivine City

After giving the Secret Potion to Jasmine on the 6th floor of the Azalea Pharmacy, you can battle the Gym Leader, Jasmine, in the gym.

Olivine Gym

This gym battle is crucial for players who chose Chikorita due to type matchups.

The Steel-type Pokémon Magnemite will use "Thunder Wa ve" to decrease your Pokémon's speed and attempt to inflict confusion with "Supersonic."

VS. Jasmine

Jasmine's Team:

Magnemite Level 30
Magnemite Level 30
Steelix Level 35

Strategy against the Gym Leader:

Steelix, Jasmine's ace, boasts high defenses, making it difficult to break through with physical attacks. However, the real challenge lies in her two Magnemites.

a voiding Magnemite's "Thunder Wa ve" and "Supersonic" combo is crucial.

Preparation before challenging the Gym Leader:

Before facing the Gym Leader, consider equipping a Pokémon with a PRZCureBerry, preferably a Fire-type or Fighting-type Pokémon.

Defeating even one of Jasmine's Magnemites significantly alters the battle's difficulty, so focus on taking them down swiftly.
